♟️ Giliw-Elo Ratings System

How to Join

Joining the Giliw-Elo Ratings System is completely free and open to all school-based chess clubs in the Philippines.

  1. Prepare your club details. Include your school name, club name (if any), city, and the list of your current members.
  2. Wait for registration forms. Online forms will soon be available on this website. You’ll be able to register your school or club in just a few minutes.
  3. Verification. Once submitted, your registration will be reviewed by our admin team. Verified clubs will receive login credentials for official match reporting.

Adding Players

Each player will have a unique profile containing their name, alias (optional), school or club affiliation, and Elo rating. Players can be added manually by the club’s designated coordinator or through bulk upload in CSV format.

Recording Matches

Once your club is approved, you can begin recording matches. Match results can be submitted through the admin dashboard. Each submitted game automatically updates both players’ Elo ratings.

  1. Log in as your club’s match coordinator.
  2. Select the players involved in the game.
  3. Enter the game result (win, loss, or draw).
  4. Submit to save — ratings are instantly recalculated.

Rating Updates

Giliw-Elo uses a dynamic Elo rating formula based on performance, opponent strength, and total games played. New players begin with a base rating of 1500. Ratings are updated automatically every time a game result is recorded.

Club and School Leaderboards

Each participating club will have its own mini leaderboard. Regional and national rankings will also be available as more schools join the system.

Future Features

The project is in its early stages — we invite your club to grow with us as we expand Giliw-Elo across the Philippines.
